Saturday afternoon will be a memorable match for two Bedford Blues players who reach landmark appearances when they take on London Irish in the Championship Cup.

Prop Ben Cooper will be bringing up his century while player/coach Alex Rae will be making his 150th appearance in a Blues jersey.

The Blues are back in action at Goldington Road this Saturday 1st December in a reverse of last weekend’s Championship Cup fixture against London Irish (KO 3pm).

Bedford will be targeting a return to winning ways as Mike Rayer’s men welcome league leaders, London Irish, following a narrow defeat last Sunday to the Exiles at The Madjeski Stadium.

Bedford Blues are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dominic Fraser as the new Head of Community.

Blues Community, launched in August 2016, has enjoyed two years of success, supporting and delivering many projects across the region thanks to the superb work of Ben Gulliver, Jon Phillips and Sports in Schools.

With a slight change in direction and growth plans under the new HoC as all management comes in house, the community programme will be looking to increase provisions of our services in schools, clubs and groups in Bedfordshire and opportunities in the wider community.

It was to be Madejski Stadium heartache again for the Blues on Sunday afternoon as they went down 21-13 to London Irish in the Championship Cup.

A close first half followed by an even tighter second exploded in the final ten minutes as the Blues crossed to make it a one point game only to concede a try almost from the restart which put the Exiles out of reach with time ticking away.

Bedford got off to the best possible start when Pat Tapley was on the end of a flying move from the backs to score his second try in as many games with barely two minutes on the clock.

Bedford Blues have named their 22 man squad to face London Irish in the third pool game of the Championship Cup at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After a solid performance and a bonus point win over Hartpury last Friday, the Blues know that they will need to step it up a gear against the league and pool three leaders.

Bedford travelled to the Exiles back in September for league action and put in an impressive display, but the former Premiership side enough gas in the tank to win the game 29-20.

Bedford Blues were absolutely delighted to present another record-breaking cheque, this year for £10,000, to Macmillan Cancer Support at last Friday night’s match following another incredible Ladies Day on Saturday 13th October.

The Blues definitely made Ladies Day 2018 one for the books, with an incredible performance on the pitch, grinding out a 29-28 victory over Doncaster Knights. However, the day was about more than just rugby, raising a huge amount for a wonderful cause.

Bedford Blues picked up their first win of their Championship Cup campaign with a convincing six try 43-14 rout of Hartpury at Goldington Road on Friday night.

A brace of tries from Alex Penny along with a penalty and one each fro Pat Tapley, Harry Davies and Justin Blanchet secured the bonus point which Lewis Robling converted four and added a penalty for an 11 point haul.

It may have been a drizzly and miserable night, but it didn’t stop 2143 fans from turning up at Goldington Road and they were treated to plenty of action from the off with the Blues scoring four first half tries.

Friday Night Lights return to Goldington Road as Bedford Blues prepare to face Hartpury in the second pool game of the Championship Cup.

Bedford tasted defeat on the road last week as they went down 22-20 to the Cornish Pirates at the Mennaye Field, but the Blues were certainly buoyed by aspects of their performance as well as three well taken tries.

Bedford and Hartpury faced off in the league last month with the visitors to Goldington Road coming within a whisker of winning had it not been for a final penalty drifting just wide of the uprights, and the Blues are expecting another tough encounter.
