Following Sunday’s disappointment in Cornwall as the Blues fell to a last minute one point loss to Pirates, Mike Rayer’s men need the town out in force this Saturday at Goldington Road as they prepare to face second placed Doncaster Knights (Kick Off 3pm).

The match featuring two of the top four is tantalisingly setup with Bedford looking to extend their unbeaten run of home wins as well as continuing to entertain the crowds with quick, expansive rugby that has seen them score eight more tries in the backs than the next nearest competitor.

Bedford Blues suffered an agonising defeat at the Mennaye Field on Sunday afternoon as the Cornish Pirates scored a late, late converted try to secure a 32-31 win.

Despite having to dig very deep in the second half, the Blues looked to be heading home with a bonus point win after Pat Tapley, Tom Griffiths, Joel Conlon and Mike Le Bourgeois had all crossed the whitewash with Myles Dorrian converting all four plus a penalty. But the Pirates pressed until the very end and got their reward as Alex Cheeseman scored from close range before Laurence May converted to seal victory.
