The Bedford Blues Academy are recruiting new players who have the ability to play for the Blues Academy, and to become the Blues 1st XV players of the future.

If you are a player, between U17 and U19 (on 1/9/2014), who thinks you have the potential to play at the Blues Academy, or you are a coach who would like to recommend a player, please send the following info to the Blues Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, at denis@ormesher.co.uk , with a copy to our Team Manager, David Wheatley, at academy@bedfordrugby.co.uk

The Blues Academy announce two new recruits to the Academy Coaching/Management team for next season.

Grant Hathaway – Backs/Skills Coach:

Grant will be joining the Academy Coaching team as one of the backs and skills coaches.

Grant works for Saracens running their HITZ programme (Premiership Rugby's award winning social inclusion programme).  He is an RFU Level 2 Coach who has a broad coaching experience including Hemel Hempstead club, Hertfordshire County, London and SE Girls, St.George’s School Harpenden, and South of England U16 Rugby League.

After weeks of cancelled games the Blues Academy had their 2nd game in four days with an away game against Cambridge U21 XV.

In a close first half both sides scored two tries to draw 10pts all at half time, before the superior fitness of the Blues showed with a high tempo second half and a 29pts - 15 win.

The Bedford Blues Academy needs a Team Manager to assist the Academy Director and Coaches in the running of the Blues Academy.

The Team Manger will take responsibility for much of the administration, and support, that is needed to make the Academy function effectively, and will work closely with the Academy Director, Coaches, and Physio team.

We are looking to strengthen our Academy coaching team for next season.  If you are a coach who wants to be part of what is probably the best non-RFU funded Academy in England ..... then we would like to hear from you.

The Blues Academy was set up to identify, recruit and develop professional players for the Bedford 1st XV of the future.  The Academy has a great record in producing players for the Blues 1st XV, with players such as Sacha Harding, Will Chudley, Chris Locke, Darryl Veenendaal, Duncan Taylor, Josh Bassett and most recently Aaron Morris coming through the Academy to the Blues 1st XV.
