It is ridiculous that during January and February there are only 2 league games and a Mickey Mouse cup game. How are clubs supposed to prosper in the second tier with so few home ties to boost the coffers?

Have to agree - pretty dire spectating this season, no consistency. A home league match every other Saturday is a distant memory.

In the old days, remember them every two weeks home game, the next weekend an away match, everyone that mattered was happy, and by that I mean us the spectators, our families knew where we were, the wife could plan her shopping trips and life had a pattern,
Then some bright spark thought that he make life more interesting by reducing the league to twelve clubs from the original sixteen and introducing playoffs, which meant that nobody had a clue as to who would be playing who during the final weeks of the season.
As this left some spare weekends, lets introduce a cup competition with a bit of foreign travel as well, an excellent way to increase attendances.......!
The clubs desperate for more revenue to compete, have lost their regular revenue stream, throw in a bit of bad weather and it starts to show the weakness of the new improvements........!
Now back to us the people who matter, the spectators, I am a guy who based part of my retirement plans on watching The Blues, frankly I am at times losing interest, I have given up on away matches, and have become selective on home matches.
People like continuity a regular supply of matches against the same level of teams, not what's on offer with the B & I Cup.
But these improvement will get us rushing through the gates, so we are told.......joke!
Sorry not us the people who matter us the spectators, many would jump at returning to the good old days, but we are the last people to be listened to! _________________ Melvyn Spencer

Well put Melvyn.
There is no doubt that the current fixture list throughout the Championship is a nonsense.
Listening to comments in the Stand at the last match it was very obvious that many people felt aggrevied by the irregular home games. As you quite rightly say, the play off situation only compounds this when we have no idea when or even if we might get additional games at the end of the regular fixture list. The likely result of this will be falling attendances from the "regulars" with clubs having to increase ticket prices to compensate. A vicious circle will be the inevitable result.
Unfortunately as is common in so many walks of life today the various managements refuse to listen to their customers. _________________ Devon Lady |

Not ideal I agree, but that is exactly why progress in the cup and league is so vital. A few teams will see their season and income stop on the 24th April. Counting the cup quarter final, we could have 4 more home games, and 7 games overall if we went to both finals, valuable income indeed.

The club are probably as unhappy as everyone commenting as is we now look back on January, no home game so no income but 3 away games with travel costs incurred. So Devon Lady,i wouldn't be saying that various managements, if you are implying the Blues, don't listen. They are in the same boat as you..........

Good advice from Denis. I have had a great deal of pleasure in recent years from watching our excellent academy strutting their staff and trying to predict the stars of the future, such a young Courtney Lawes, not to mention the more obvious Josh Bassett, Duncan Taylor, Ali Price and what have you. Can I also mention the Colts who have put on some very impressive performances this year and have a match at the Ath at 1.30 on Sunday? One or two future Blues in that team for certain, would say.
