Richards had put out a completely different squad and Leinster a young team also.
“There are a lot of changes for this game purely to back-up what happened on Sunday as there are a lot of bruised bodies, and we have to make sure that we get them right for next week..

My thoughts to Alan, I did not like the way Newcastle used the scrums to get penalities out of Bedford.

Nothing to write home about pretty poor performance from Newcastle.
Leinster unlucky to be 10 -7 down at half time.
Leinster playing the ball wide and running with it, Newcastle seem unable to work that bit out but then they are a pretty basic team for tonight.
Leinster very lively.

If anyone deserved to win this game it was Leinster. They came out to play rugby and to win and win they did.
Newcastle was a bit of a shambles the first half, but gradually became more structured, but not impressive.
The referee added on injury time thus enabling Leinster to even the scores at 10 all.
Extra time, first half the score remained the same then Falcons took the lead but Leinster never gave up and were awarded a penalty in the 99th minute to win the B&I Cup, a thoroughly deserved win.
