Hi Steve: As a proud Welsh bloke want to have a bet on the game this weekend? You will need to tell me your name so I know who I will my money from. Sorry just to avoid confusion, me being a proud Scottish person and all, my money is on England (wash my mouth out) to win. Come on Engaaland. What will the score be: Wales 15 Engaaaland 30. With a Lions confirming display by one of the few English men (oor Billy)on the park. _________________ zero zero one zero zero |

| Oh dear PPB.... I'd have expected more from you than that. How about "we were outplayed in thought & deed by a superior side." ?? |

As I said Gareth - "We were not good enough"
I will add "and were beaten by a better side on the day"
See you soon |

The Six Nations has been a pretty dire competition for the past decade. Grand Slams are two a penny (unless it's England trying to get one). They have been won by mediocre teams against very poor opposition. They are won more often in the Six Nations (when you would have thought it more difficult) than they were in the Five Nations. That begs the question whether professionalism has brought anything to the table (other than a cash cow for the RFU and very expensive match day tickets at senior club level). Having said that, the first weekend of this year's Six Nations was special and France take the wooden spoon, so it's not all bad. _________________ A stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet (Will Rogers)

I have got to say I think the 5 Nations was a better comp. than the 6 Nations - anyone remember Mr Gibbs:
osition Nation Games Points Table
points
Played Wo Drawn Lost For Against Difference Tries
1 Scotland 4 3 0 1 120 79 +41 16 6
2 England 4 3 0 1 103 78 +25 8 6
3 Wales 4 2 0 2 109 126 −17 9 4
4 Ireland 4 1 0 3 66 90 −24 3 2
5 France 4 1 0 3 75 100 −25 9 2 _________________ zero zero one zero zero |

Decade : the length of time since the last English Grand Slam. If it's not the refereeing, then it must be the general standard of the competition and the mediocre standard of the other sides. Excellent analysis. |

Well said GB. if it was a poor competition this year and they didn't win it, what does that say about England ?
They say "One bad result does not make a bad team" but conversely, one good result against the All Blacks in a friendly does not make a world class team.
Sir CW, at half time on Saturday, smugly predicted that fitness would play a big part, and that the last 20 mins could be decisive. How right he was, although I'm not 100% sure that's what he had in mind ! |

Surely it is not the "stage" that counts now is it? It is about living in the present otherwise we would still be talking and singing about Bannockburn and the 1966 World Cup (couldn't think of a proud Welsh victory - sorry Steve). _________________ zero zero one zero zero |
