| Now there's someone I suspect we would all like back when he gets a bit too old for the Premiership! |

He's carrying a bit of a knock, he's on the bench.

Nos Thomas on the bench. Would be certain the away trips wouldn't be quiet.
Think Tom Varndell on the bench would be a more exciting option! |

The same Tom Varndell who on his first couple of training sessions with the Blues was admiring a pass made and ran straight into the posts to the hilarity of all watching the session?
Better keep him on the bench..... |

Courtney Lawes
I am surprised that no-one has mentioned Courtney Lawes .... Blues Academy 2007 .... who starts at blind side flanker for England vs France tomorrow.
Courtney ended his season with Bedford playing in the team that beat Redruth 30pts - 5, in the National Colts Knock Out Cup Final at Franklins' Gardens on Monday May 7th 2007.
The Bedford try scorers in the final were Courtney Lawes, Will Chudley, Duncan Taylor, Martin Watkins and Grant Pointer (now playing for Cornish Pirates). Grant also scored a drop goal and a conversion.
The team that day ....
Bedford: Tom Williams (capt), Chris Locke, Adam Ferrier Tom Coxall, Courtney Lawes, Shane Allen, Adam Self, Greg Mathers; Will Chudley, Luke Radley; Duncan Taylor, Grant Pointer, Jamie Burroughs, Will Sanson; Peter Clarke: Subs: James Wright, George Gaywood, Geoff Lewin, Joe Callaghan-Adnams, Martin Watkins, Ben Ventham, Tom Meller:
Darryl Veenedall, who was understudy to Will Chudley that season, missed the Redruth game due to a broken bone in his hand, but got his chance in the final a year later when he played in the team that beat Nuneaton by 33pts - 16, to win the cup. He was joined by Chris Locke and Duncan Taylor, both winning medals for the second year running, and Tom Armes.
For those of you who want to see the current Blues Academy crop of players and try your hand at spotting the playes of the future ....
Blues Academy U19s vs Cambridge U21 XV

....... the Blues Academy game against Cambridge U21 XV due to be played in Cambridge on Saturday March 2nd has been switched to Tuesday February 26th and will now be played in Bedford, at the Bedford Swifts' ground, at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium, Barker's Lane, MK41 9SB, Kick Off 7.30 pm.
All welcome. |

What about a sign outside the Ground "Bedford RUFC - Where Stars are Born" with a montage of well known faces who started their rugby here. This would attract supporters, players and sponsors alike. Perhaps one of our major sponsors could come up with something. _________________ SHROPSHIRE BLUE |
