YOUR MATCH DAY PLAN FOR THE IRISH INVASION

The Blues return home this Saturday following a narrow loss in Jersey at the weekend hoping to continue their improved performance against the champions elect and former Premiership boys London Irish (KO 3pm).

Mike Rayer’s men will need a strong 16th man to help make Goldington Road a fortress for the arrival of the Exiles who have so far comfortably eased passed Doncaster Knights and Richmond, but having left the Channel Islands frustrated by what could have easily been an away win, the Blues will be focused on causing an upset.

When Bedford last met London Irish in their Premiership years, the side from the capital did the double across consecutive seasons, with the last time Bedford toppled the now Reading based outfit back in 1986 at Goldington Road on exactly the same weekend in September.

There is plenty to enjoy off the field also as we get into the Irish theme with Bedford’s very own Irish band; Muckle joining us in the Blues Marquee post-game.

Pick up a revamped programme on arrival, featuring plenty of editorial material with our new players, and head to one of the bars to soak up the pre-match atmosphere. Once again our choice would be the refurbished upstairs Eagle Bar for a pint of our favourite Eagle IPA or this week’s guest ale Butcombe Brewery’s Crimson King.

There are still a few spaces in the Blues Marquee for just £25 per person (excluding match ticket) for a three course pre-match meal and entertainment with pre-match analysis and predictions with the injured Blues players. To book simply email sophie@bedfordrugby.co.uk today.

Then as the teams run out, please give a loud cheer for this week’s SSG Guard of Honour from Clapham Sports Under 8s and the Bedford Bear as the main event gets underway.

After the game we’ve got two choices for you; either head to the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation and enjoy live music with Irish band Muckle as the post-match party starts in true Irish fashion.

If you can squeeze in both; pop upstairs to the Eagle Bar straight after the MoM presentation for the second installment of Michael R Peters Final Whistle. This new initiative with instant match reaction from a player and coach gives supporters a real insight to the match from an expert and playing view, don’t miss this week’s with a couple of real entertainers for you.
