Martin Hynes

Forwards Coach
Player Profile:

Former Orrell, Northampton and England prop Martin Hynes has been a mainstay of the Blues coaching team for many years while also running a pest control business.

Originating from Wigan, Hynesy moved from Orrell to Northampton Saints just before the game turned professional and went on to play numerous times for England XVs, touring Canada and New Zealand, and sitting on the bench throughout the entire 1991/92 Grand Slam-winning season without actually getting on (he did have Jason Leonard ahead of him...).

An arm injury put pay to Martin's playing days in 2000, and after a year or so he started to combine coaching with his work at He helped out with the forwards at Saints when Colin Deans left midway through the season before linking up with Mike Rayer at Bedford. Hynsey also coached England Women for a couple of years which he said was "immensely enjoyable".
