Bedford Blues are hoping for Fireworks on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, on the pitch that is, as Nottingham Rugby arrive for a pivotal clash with both sides needing a win to lift them up the Championship table this Saturday at Goldington Road (KO 3pm).

Blues and their visitors, the Green and Whites, lay near the bottom of the standings, but with only six points separating 11th from the play-off spots there is still plenty of time for a mount a challenge towards the top, and a win this Saturday would certainly help.

Following the narrow one-point loss to Ealing Trailfinders at the weekend, Mike Rayer’s boys will be eager to bounce back on home soil against an improving East Midlands outfit featuring five former Blues with TJ Harris, Darryl Veenendaal, Viliami Hakalo, James Stephenson and Academy graduate Lawrence Rayner in their ranks.

Tickets for the match are selling quickly online, so make sure you take advantage of the £4 discount and buy today to help make Goldington Road a fortress this weekend. Click here to buy tickets now.

Off the field there’s also lots to keep you entertained, pick up a programme on arrival and head to the Eagle Bar for a pint of this week’s guest ale; Joseph Holt’s Two Hoots Golden Ale Read all of this week’s goings on at Goldington Road with the build up to Wales v Australia on the screens.

There are still a few spots in the Blues Marquee for just £25 per person (excluding match ticket) for a three-course meal and entertainment with pre-match analysis and predictions. This Saturday’s game is sponsored by Woburn Country Foods and with an aptly chosen main course of Bangers & Mash plus a few surprises from this week’s butchering sponsors, it’s sure to be a superb luncheon. As kick off approaches, this week’s SSG Guard of Honour from Ferrars Junior School will form the welcome tunnel with the Bedford Bear, let’s give them and the teams a loud cheer.

With the weather turning we also have a one-off specialty coffee unit on site to warm you up nearing the Former Players Bar, enjoy a selection from lattes to cappuccinos along with a sweet treat.

Post-match take in the live reaction of players and coaches upstairs in the Eagle Bar for the Michael R Peters Final Whistle before heading back to the Blues Marquee for live music. The Blues very own house musician Mark Calder will play into the evening with the chance to mix with players and hopefully celebrate a Bedford win #COYB.
