Two new recruits wil be making the Bedford debuts when the Blues head to Nottingham on Sunday afternoon for the opening game of the 2018/19 Greene King IPA Championship season.
Games between Nottingham and Bedford are always exciting affairs with the two teams facing off four times in league and cup action last season. While the Blues had a three wins to one record last term, all of that counts for nothing as both teams look to get the new campaign off to a winning start.
Looking ahead to the games, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: "It’s great to be able to put out a squad with so many familiar names on it, yes we could have done without a couple of injuries in the backline but that still looks on paper to be a pretty exciting formation. The forwards and half backs are extremely experienced players now and we are going to need them to guide us through the early part of the season.

"Both sides on Sunday are very well known to each other so the game could go down to the wire. If there is one thing certain though, it is that the players are definitely looking forward to it.”
Ed Coulson, who signed form Hartpury over the summer, and Fraser Strachan, who has joined the Blues on Dual Registration from Northampton Saints, will line-up in the centres while hooker Charlie Clare and lock Mark Flanagan will be making their second debuts having rejoined the Goldington Road club. Former Academy Development Squad member Ryan Hutler starts on the wing while current members James Lennon and Joe Green are named on the bench where they join summer signing Oli Curry.
