MATCH PREVIEW V JERSEY REDS

Bedford Blues take to the skies this weekend as they head across the English Channel to take on Jersey Reds in Round 12 of the Greene King IPA Championship.

Following a hard-fought win over second placed Ealing Trailfinders last weekend, the Blues now face the huge challenge of taking on the Reds in front of their own fans.

With  things tightening up at the top of the table, there's plenty riding on this third versus fourth clash with neither side wanting to lose any ground on the top two teams.

Looking ahead to the gamne, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: "It goes without saying we were all delighted with last weekend's win. Everyone put a lot of hard work into the preparation and to start like we did, then having to come back and dig in at the end, says a lot about the whole group we have here this season.

"It doesn’t get any easier though, as we now head over to Jersey who are unbeaten in the Championship at home this season. The Reds have flourished over the course of the campaign and we will need to be extremely clinical and show the same resolve from last week if we want to leave the island with the result we want."

Bedford make a handful of changes from the team that defeated Ealing Trailfinders last weekend. Northampton Saints youngster Matt Worley has signed on dual-registration and comes straight in at 13 with Lewis Robling moving to fly half to cover the injured Will Hooley. In the forwards, Charlie Clare returns at hooker, Will Carrick-Smith comes into the second row and Justin Blanchet - who was called up to the Canada squad this week - replaces Oli Curry who suffered a knock against his former club last Saturday.
