Bedford Blues take to the road in round 19 of the Greene King IPA Championship as they head west to take on Hartpury at the Gillman’s Ground on Saturday afternoon.

While the Blues go into the game off a bonus point win over Cornish Pirates, they know that a huge challenge awaits with Hartpury fighting for their Championship survival with just four games remaining. The hosts head into the fixture having won three of the last four including a huge victory over Jersey Reds last weekend.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Blues player coach Lee Dickson said: “We’ve faced Hartpury three times this season and although we’ve picked up wins on each occasion, they count for nothing come kick-off. All three games have been difficult but we know that Hartpury are battling for survival and this weekend will be the toughest yet.

“Last weekend the boys showed just how clinical they can be in a game of few opportunities against the Pirates. It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but the lads did what they needed to do and we were very pleased to pick up the bonus point win.

“We’ll need more of the same this week as we know the Gillman’s Ground is notoriously tough, but it looks like the weather is going to be fine and the opportunity is there for some expansive rugby so hopefully we should be in for an exciting game.”

The Blues make four changes to their pack for this weekend’s fixture as Toby Trinder and Charlie Clare come into the front row, Will Carrick-Smith returns to the second row and Jarad Williams is back at number eight.
