MATCH PREVIEW V DONCASTER KNIGHTS

Bedford Blues will be turning pink and green this weekend when they welcome Doncaster Knights in the Championship at Goldington Road.

After returning to winning ways with a 21-28 victory over Yorkshire Carnegie, Mike Rayer's men will be looking to follow that result up with a good performance in front of what is sure to be a bumper crowd enjoying the annual Ladies Day at Goldington Road.

Now in its 11th year, Ladies Day sees the Blues raising much needed funds for MacMillan Cancer Support with a range of on and off field activities including an auction for fans to win one of the unique shirts worn by the players on the day.

Looking ahead to the game, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: "Last weekend was a big result for us. We'd gone 14 years not winning at Emerald Headingley so to get that monkey off our back was important. However, returning to winning ways in the Championship following three defeats in as many weeks was even more important and I was proud of the lads for their performance. We've now got to keep momentum behind us and try to build on last week or it won't count for nothing - 14 years or not!

"Doncaster have had a tough few weeks and the loss last weekend to Jersey Reds would have been a real hard one to take on home territory. I'm sure the players and coaches are hurting and will want to get a big reaction against us this week so I can't see either team holding back."

Bedford make six changes to the team that overcame Yorkshire Carnegie last weekend with three in the backs and three in the forwards. Ed Coulson gets the nod on the right wing, Jamie Elliott returns at centre while Will Hooley is set to start at fly half with Jacob Atkins being recalled to London Irish. Up front, Ben Cooper, Ed Taylor and Josh Buggea all come into the starting line-up in place of Alex Penny, Will Carrick-Smith and Jack Nay.
