Match Preview v Doncaster Knights

Bedford Blues return to action after a weekend off with the always difficult challenge of taking on Doncaster Knights.

Bedford are looking to bounce back from defeats to Bristol and Newcastle as they aim to seal a top four finish while Doncaster come to Goldington Road bottom of the Championship and aiming to make up ground on their nearest rivals Jersey.

While the Blues have been boosted by the return of dual registered players Ben Ransom, Scott Spurling and James Short from Saracens, they remain without long term injured players Henry Staff, Sacha Harding and James Pritchard as well as lock Ben Gulliver who broke a bone in his wrist during the game against Newcastle.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s match, Blues backs coach Paul Larkin said: “Games against Doncaster are never easy and we were extremely lucky to pick up the win at Castle Park back in November with the last kick of the game. The Knights are in a very precarious league position at the moment and we know that with just a handful of games remaining, they will be doing everything possible to pick up the win.

“Despite losing away to Newcastle, the lads put in one hell of a performance and were so unfortunate not to take more than just a single point. There were so many positives from that game but now we have to carry that effort into Saturday’s game as we push for a top four finish.”
