Hot on the heels of the signing of utility back Charlie Reed, Bedford Blues are delighted to announce the capture of promising young prop Henry Paul.
Paul, 22, is a powerhouse prop capable of playing on either side of the scrum and had an impressive season playing at Esher in National One having previously turned out for London Irish Wild Geese.

Paul, had agreed to join Rosslyn Park for the 2019/20 season, but when the opportunity to play in the Championship arose, the London-based club agreed that he could move on to Goldington Road.
But with good news, there is some sad as the move came about after it was confirmed that Scott Jenkins will not be joining the Blues from Scarlets this summer. Unfortunately, the 21 year old former Wales Under 20 prop has been suffering ongoing issues with his knees and it looked probable that he would not be able to feature at all this season. As a result, Scott and Bedford Blues mutually agreed that the move would be cancelled.
Speaking about the new signing, Bedford Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: “First and foremost, it is a real shame that Scott has suffered injury which means that he is unable to join us here next season. He is a talented young player and we wish him well with the next stage of his career.
“With the news that Scott would not be joining us, the arrival of Henry is a timely one. He comes with a very good reputation having just come off a successful tour with England Counties to Georgia and he also fits the playing profile of what we were after. We are looking forward to him adding as much as our other new front row signings - Joe Wrafter and Robbie Smith - have as well as putting pressure on the more familiar faces in the scrum.
“I also want to thank Rosslyn Park for allowing Henry to make the move up to the Championship, we are very grateful to them and this continues a very good relationship we’ve had with them for many years.”
Bedford Blues have started their second block of pre-season training and are looking ahead to two home friendlies against Cambridge on Friday 23rd August and Cardiff Blues on Saturday 14th September. Tickets will be available very soon via the Blues website www.bedfordrugby.co.uk.
