Bedford Blues will sadly no longer be welcoming referee Nigel Owens in our latest Sportsman’s Dinner, but have managed to replace him with the superb James Haskell.

The current England international who has made an impact off the bench in the first two Six Nations matches is the perfect substitute and is renowned for his open, honest and entertaining stories behind the mic.

The event on Wednesday 5th April will see MC Sam Roberts welcome Haskell to the Goldington Road Marquee for a night of rugby tales and entertainment with a raffle and auction to close following a sumptuous three-course feast.

The Club are delighted to have secured James and are hoping supporters and sponsors will be interested in hearing from the much talented international flanker. Haskell has played leading roles for clubs across the world, including Stade Francais, Ricoh Black Rams, Otago Highlanders and Wasps where he started through the Academy and returned there in 2012 to present.

At 31-years-old, Haskell still has a bright future in the international game with 72 caps already under his belt, but not just a clever player, James is well known for his off-field business acumen and is already involved in several business ventures, including his own brand health and fitness enterprise.

Speaking about the dinner, organiser Ted Carroll, said: “I am delighted to be able to secure James as a replacement for Nigel and everyone at the Club is looking forward to another good night. I’m sure James will be hugely popular and bring a few hilarious stories and behind the scenes tales. It’s a scalp to host a current England international and we wish him well for the rest of the Six Nations.”

Tickets for the Sportman's Dinner with James Haskell, which will be overseen by Sam Roberts and includes a three-course meal, are on sale now. The evening with will cost £45 per person. For more information or to book your tickets, please email ted@bedfordrugby.co.uk.
