DAVID FRANCOMBE 1967-2016

The Club was deeply saddened to hear that former player David Francombe was killed in a tragic aircraft accident in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday.

Dave played for the Blues in the back row between 1986-90 when he was a student at Bedford College. He was a member of the side which gained promotion to Courage League 1 in 1989.

When he completed his studies he returned to his birthplace in Kenya, continued playing rugby and also captained the Kenya national side.

He gained  his pilot's licence, became a self-employed crop sprayer and settled in Narok with his wife Cally and his son and daughter.

Dave will be remembered with great respect and affection by his Bedford teammates, not just a great on field player, but as a friendly, bear of a man, always ready with a smile and a handshake.

The Club sends its sincere sympathy to Cally and his family on their tragic loss.
