The opening home match of the new Greene King IPA Championship season is only 10 days away as Bedford Blues welcome London Scottish to Goldington Road in our family fun day on Saturday 9th September (Kick Off 3pm). Save £4 and book tickets online here.

Following an impressive pre-season campaign Mike Rayer’s men are champing at the bit for league action in what promises to be an exciting campaign with a first look at some of the new faces in competitive rugby against a Scottish outfit featuring four former Blues players.

Ties between the two sides have typically been close affairs with one win apiece for the last few seasons, but Bedford will be targeting a win to kick start the season in front of the home faithful. Off the field we’re all set for a return to match day too with an improved list of match experiences for you, starting with our family fun day. Entertainment for the kids includes a bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, sweet cart, face painting and Blues Community rugby games.

Make sure you pick up a revamped match programme on arrival as gates open from 12 noon and head to one of the bars to soak up the pre-match atmosphere. Our choice would be the upstairs Eagle Bar for a pint of Bedford’s Eagle IPA or why not try a new regular on the taps; Greene King IPA who sponsor the league. Alternatively try the newly branded Blues 1886 Lager, available around the ground.

There are still a few spaces in the Blues Marquee for just £28 per person (excluding match ticket) for a three-course pre-match meal and entertainment with a host of our Former Players in the annual Autumn Luncheon. The club will also be hosting one of our most celebrated former players in ex-England and Bedford captain Budge Rogers who will launch his book with a signing session on the day. To book into hospitality email or call 0871 871 1886.

As the teams run out please give a loud cheer for this week’s SSG Services Guard of Honour and the Bedford Bear, if you would like to enter a team, school or group to form our welcome tunnel please email

After the game we’ve got two choices for you; either head to the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation and enjoy live music from the returning Mark Calder as the post-match party starts.

Alternatively pop upstairs to the Eagle Bar straight after the MoM presentation for the Michael R Peters Final Whistle. This season you can ask the questions yourself and win a pint in the process!

Don’t forget to pop into the Club Shop for the first chance to check out the new Blues leisurewear range including the new away replica jersey. Located next to the marquee pop in to show your colours or to buy online visit
