CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES ANNOUNCED

Bedford Blues will begin the 2015/16 Greene King IPA Championship season with a trip to Bristol before welcoming Moseley to Goldington Road for the first home game of the campaign.

The full schedule of Championship fixtures was confirmed today with the Blues first home game of the season seeing Kevin Maggs bringing his Moseley team to Goldington Road on the weekend of 11th/12th/13th September before Bedford see out September with two trips on the road to London Scottish and London Welsh

Bedford start October with a visit from Nottingham - who signed three Blues players in the summer - before setting sail for Jersey the following weekend. Rotherham will enjoy Bedford’s hospitality in round seven before the Blues make the trip to newly promoted Ealing. There will then be a break on October 31 as the entire rugby family enjoys the Rugby World Cup Final.

November opens with the Blues facing Yorkshire Carnegie at Goldington Road before the first two rounds of the British & Irish Cup take place. The month ends with a long trip down to the Mennaye Field to face Cornish Pirates.

Doncaster Knights are the visitors on the opening weekend of December ahead of two British & Irish Cup encounters. The month ends with a festive clash at Billesley Common against Moseley.

The New Year starts at Goldington Road and the visit of London Scottish followed by a weekend off. Mike Rayer’s men then complete the final two stages of the British and Irish Cup before London Welsh - who were relegated from the Aviva Premiership last season - come to Goldington Road.

Bedford travel to Lady Bay to face Nottingham in February ahead of the Valentine’s weekend visit of Jersey. A free weekend follows before the month is rounded off with a trip to Clifton Lane to face Rotherham.

Ealing travel to Bedford in early March ahead of the British & Irish Cup quarter and semi-finals which follow over the following two weekends before the month finishes with a trip to Leeds to face Yorkshire Carnegie.

Bedford have three Championship games and possibly the British & Irish Cup Final in April. Cornish Pirates come through the Goldington Road gates first ahead of the cup final and then an away trip to Doncaster follows before the season finale takes place with Bristol coming to Bedford.

Speaking about the fixtures, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: “Everybody is always excited when the fixtures comes out as it allows us and the fans the chance to start planning the year ahead. We have some big games in the first month so it is important that we hit the ground running and show our intentions from the start.”
