CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION RETURNS THIS SATURDAY

Bedford Blues are straight back in action at Goldington Road this Saturday with the return of Championship rugby against last season’s Premiership relegated side, London Welsh (Kick Off 3pm).

Hoping to continue their winning run with five victories on the bounce and fresh off Cup success, Mike Rayer’s men are preparing for another crucial encounter as Rowland Phillips’ Exiles outfit arrive in town.

Currently in fourth with a nine-point cushion over Jersey, Bedford are seeking revenge over Welsh who narrowly edged the Blues at Old Deer Park earlier in the campaign and have since added the scalps of both Yorkshire Carnegie and Doncaster Knights.

Off the field there’s also lots going on, whilst hospitality is full sold out, why not arrive early grab a match programme and a pint before heading to a great value pre-match lunch at Nos’s Nosh in the Scrum Hall.

This week’s SSG Services Guard of Honour will feature pupils from Henlow Church of England Academy, let’s give them and the Bedford Bear a loud cheer as the teams run out on to the pitch.

The Club hope supporters will once again stay around after the match to join the party atmosphere as musician Mark Calder again plays live music into the evening in the Blues Marquee where you will again find a promotional pint of Charles Wells Triple Hopped IPA lager and the post-game Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation.

If you require a further rugby fix after the final whistle, head up to the Eagle Bar with friends to watch the live televised match between Cardiff Blues and Edinburgh in the Pro12 at 5:15pm and enjoy a pint of guest ale; Navigation Brewery’s Brittania.

Gates open at 12 noon, arrive early to avoid the queues, tickets are available online with a £2.00 discount at www.theclubshop.co.uk/bedfordblues or on the match day gate.
