Bedford Blues are delighted to announce the capture of three new players for the 2019/20 Greene King IPA Championship season.

Arriving at Goldington Road in the summer will be scrum half Grayson Hart from London Scottish, hooker Robbie Smith from Glasgow Warriors and prop Joe Wrafter from Birmingham Moseley.

Speaking about the new arrivals, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: "The squad for next season is really starting to take shape and I'm thrilled to be able to welcome a mixture of experience and youth to the ranks.

"With Lee Dickson departing, it was important for us to secure the services of an established scrum half and Grayson is one of the best in the league. Not only does he have experience of playing at the very top level but he also has incredible game management abilities and a wonderful skill set which will fit in perfectly.

"Robbie is definitely one for the future and someone we are very excited about seeing in action. Having come through the ranks at Glasgow Warriors, he has gained valuable game time with Ayr in the Scottish Premiership where he made a huge impact and comes with glowing references from his coaches and peers.

"Joe is one of the standout props in National One and someone who has really blossomed at Birmingham Moseley where he is a fan favourite. Not only does he offer strength and superb scrummaging skills, but he also has deceptive pace and great handling abilities which is something we're really keen to see from our front rowers."

Hart, 30,  joins the Blues following a season at Richmond Athletic Ground where he has made 22 appearances scoring two tries. Originally from New Zealand, Hart has represented Scotland on the International stage on three occasions having qualified through his Grandmother who was born in Glasgow. Hartt has Championship experience with London Scottish and Ealing Trailfinders as well as playing for Worcester Warriors, the Waratahs, the Auckland Blues, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Smith, 19, was confirmed as one of the Fosroc Scottish Rugby Academy Stage 3 players ahead of the 2018/19 season, with the hooker aligned to Glasgow Warriors. Having begun his career with Newton Stewart, he moved to Tennant's Premiership side Ayr, consistently impressing for the men from Millbrae. The hooker has represented his country throughout the age grades, and was named as Scotland's captain for the 2018 U20 Six Nations.

Wrafter, 23, is a no nonsense loose head prop who has had an impressive two year stint at Billesley Common racking up 47 appearances thus far. At six foot tall and 113kg, the mobile prop offers plenty in the pack having come through the Worcester Warriors Academy and playing at Clifton and Hartpury as well as picking up honours for Gloucestershire, North Midlands and England Counties.

Grayson, Robbie and Joe join fellow new signings Joe Atkinson (Wasps), Scott Jenkins (Scarlets), Dan Temm (Yorkshire Carnegie) and Matt Worley (Northampton Saints) while Will Hooley, Jacob Fields, Will Carrick-Smith, Ed Taylor, Josh Buggea, Dean Adamson, Oli Curry, Lewis Robling, James Lennon, Ryan Hutler, Rich Lane, Alex Penny and Sean McCarthy have all agreed new deals to remain at the club
