Bedford Blues and Saracens are delighted to announce an extension on their current working agreement which will see two players moving to Goldington Road for the 2015/16 Championship season.

Joel Conlon and Tom Griffiths have both signed deals with the Blues for the coming campaign but, in an emergency, they will be able to return to Saracens on loan.

Blues Chairman Geoff Irvine said: “We have a fantastic working relationship with Saracens and this further deal means that Bedford benefit from having two impressive signings while Saracens are safe in the knowledge that should they need to call on them, they can do so.

“We saw Joel several times last season while he was dual-registered with Cornish Pirates from Exeter and he is a solid back rower who will continue to excel while Tom comes with a glowing endorsement from the Saracens camp and we are very excited to have them joining the squad ahead of the new season.”

Conlon, 21, is a recent addition to Saracens having been signed from Exeter Chiefs where he came through their academy with the likes of  Henry Slade and Jack Nowell. The openside flanker, who is never afraid to get stuck into the heart of the action, was part of England’s Under-20s  title-winning teams in both the Six Nations and Junior World Championship and spent last season at Cornish Pirates on dual-registration.

Originally from Gloucester and a season ticket holder at the Cherry and Whites, Griffiths signed for Saracens having helped Hartbury College to win their fourth consecutive AASE title in April 2013. Originally a fly half, he switched to centre while at school and has gone on to represent Saracens Storm throughout their A League campaign while also being called up to the England Under 20 squad.
