BLUES SECURE HALLAM SIGNING

Bedford Blues have secured the services of experienced prop James Hallam for the remainder of the 2016/17 Greene King IPA Championship season.

After it was confirmed that Jack Culverhouse would require surgery to a hip injury, the Blues moved quickly to sign Hallam ahead of the transfer deadline which passed on Friday 24th February.

Speaking about the signing, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: "James has considerable experience in the Championship and we are delighted to welcome him to Goldington Road for the remainder of the season.

"We've been quite unfortunate with injuries in the front row this season and this is a real set back for Jack who has gone well for us. Having James gives us an extra option in the last few stages of the Championship campaign."

Hallam, 26, made the move to London Welsh at the start of the current campaign following two seasons at London Scottish, during which time he made 41 appearances and scored one try.

James signed with Newcastle Falcons for the 2012/2013 season after completing his studies at Durham University, where he was part of a BUCS championship winning side.

The prop made his Falcons debut in the international friendly against Tonga and also appeared in the British and Irish Cup final against Leinster 'A'.

James was dual registered with National League 1 side Blaydon during his two years at the Falcons, and has represented England Students and Durham County.
