The Championship big boys arrive in Bedford this Saturday for a much-anticipated clash as the Blues look to respond in front of their home faithful against the league’s top side Bristol Rugby (Kick Off 3pm). Save £4 and book tickets online here.

Following an impressive start to the season, Mike Rayer’s men suffered a slight road bump on Saturday, losing out to a very impressive Ealing Trailfinders, who now sit top of the standings.

The task now at hand is to respond against Pat Lam’s title favourites as they search to continue an unbeaten run.

Supporters will remember meeting Bristol six times last time they were in the Championship only two years ago in the league, cup and play-offs. That season, the Blues managed to spring a September surprise on the West Country outfit, beating them 23-29 at Ashton Gate.

One man keen to repeat that performance will be captain Michael Le Bourgeois; “It’s always great to play Bristol, they’ve got a quality team and the pressure will be on them, but we’re not going out there to roll over and expect a response.

“We weren’t good enough on Saturday and need to tighten a few areas to even have a chance against Bristol, but hopefully in front of a home crowd we can put on a show.”

Off the field, pick up a match programme on arrival and head to one of the bars to soak up the atmosphere. Our choice would be the upstairs Eagle Bar for a pint of Bedford’s Eagle IPA or why not try a new regular on the taps; Greene King IPA who sponsor the league. Alternatively try the newly branded Blues 1886 Lager, available around the ground.

There are still spaces in the Blues Marquee for just £28 per person (excluding match ticket) for a three-course pre-match meal and entertainment with current Blues players. To book into hospitality email or call 0871 871 1886.

This week’s SSG Services Guard of Honour are Sevenoaks Rugby Club Under 13s who are touring from Kent, please give them and the Bedford Bear a loud welcome to the Blues as the teams run out.

Post-game we’ve got two choices for you; either head to the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation and enjoy live music from the Mark Calder or pop upstairs to the Eagle Bar for the Michael R Peters Final Whistle. This season you can ask the questions yourself and win a pint in the process!

Don’t forget to pop into the Club Shop with more new leisurewear arrivals this Saturday (Season Tickets still receive a 10% discount off all items). Located next to the marquee pop in to show your colours or buy online at
