BLUES RAISE £5,000 FOR CRUK FROM LADIES DAY 2016

Bedford Blues presented another cheque for £5,000 to Cancer Research UK on Friday night at the match against London Scottish following the celebration of another fantastic Ladies Day on Saturday 15th October.

With the Blues picking up an excellent win on the field in that encounter against Newport Gwent Dragons in the B&I Cup, the fans certainly did their bit off the pitch as a staggering £5,000 was raised for Cancer Research.

All 25 of the special edition match day jerseys were sold at auction with Blues fans proverbially clambering over one another to get their favourite. With Sam Roberts hosting the auction, it was Jake Sharp and Dean Adamson who turned out to be the most popular men on the day with their match worn jerseys raising a whopping £500 apiece after they were purchased by Richard Castle and Kristina French respectively.

A further £2,000 was raised in the raffle with some fantastic prizes claimed on the evening thanks to our various partners including 5th Avenue Hair & Beauty, Charles Wells, Elms BMW, the Knife & Cleaver at Houghton Conquest, The Embankment Hotel and Bedford Blues.

There were also prizes for the best dressed female. The winners walking away with a framed certificate, a magnum of Prosecco and a day spa voucher all courtesy of match sponsors Fire Safety Services.

Speaking about the event, Blues Operations Manager, Gareth Alred said: “We would like to thank all of our wonderful supporters who came along and helped make Ladies Day 2016 another very successful event and raise £5,000 for a very worthy charity.

“Everyone enjoyed a fantastic time before, during and after the match with the marquee packed all day, and being able to raise so much money for Cancer Research UK thanks to everyone’s generosity was a huge bonus.

“Particular thanks to match sponsors Fire Safety Services and all the marquee partners; 5th Avenue, Baker Brothers Diamonds, Crumbs on Castle Road and Charles Wells for supporting the day and help put on a great show for our deserving fans.”

Club Chairman, Geoff Irvine, handed over the cheque to Cancer Research UK representative, Terina Mather at our game against London Scottish on Friday 25th November.
