Blues Community are delighted to be working with Biddenham International School to help find rugby players, coaches and experienced practitioners who would like to train towards becoming a PE teacher with a specialist second subject in Maths, Science or Business to start September 2017.

Due to the rapidly increasing school intake in Year 7 and 9, Blues Community are seeking to appoint at least two well qualified, enthusiastic and engaging professionals at Biddenham International School and Specialist Sports College.

Rated GOOD by Ofsted in November 2015, Biddenham is a friendly and inclusive, multicultural school. Departments are well resourced and dedicated staff foster deep learning within our close-knit learning community. In September 2015, they opened a contemporary state-of-the-art building to welcome an intake of Year 7 students who are benefitting from an exciting and innovative connected curriculum.

We are seeking to appoint either rugby players of a Championship standard that would like to work towards a career in teaching or coaching within a school or Sports Coaches who have a desire to work in PE and have the ability to develop a second subject in Science, Mathematics or Business.

This exciting post will involve teaching across all key stages, develop Bedford Blues Community links, a variety of roles under the Blues flag and help the drive to further improve the respective departments in the school.

Head of Blues Community, Ben Gulliver added: “This role is a very exciting addition to the community team here at Bedford Blues, the development of players away from rugby is something we are very passionate about and working with such a fantastic forward-thinking school is a great opportunity.

“This is a unique chance and a great way to set yourself up post-rugby whilst training to become a teacher at one of Bedford’s leading schools. The successful candidate will work under the Blues flag and have lots of opportunities with the Club.”

The successful candidates must:

  • have a passion for Mathematics, Science or Business
  • be dedicated to improving the learning outcomes of all students
  • be committed to contributing to the wider curriculum
