THE BIG BOXING DAY PREVIEW: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

It’s nearly here, the big bumper Boxing Day clash against Jersey Reds at Goldington Road as Bedford Blues seek to start the second half of the season with a decisive victory and climb the Championship table (KO 3pm).

Preparations are taking shape, logistics in place, on and off-field entertainment scheduled and lots of ground entry tickets are still available online at £4 discount with only a handful of Eagle Stand seats remaining.

Whilst Mike Rayer’s men have endured a topsy-turvy first half of the season, hopes are high that the Blues can reverse recent results and challenge at the other end of the table if they can overcome the Channel Islanders who find themselves in a similar position.

Having inflicting a narrow defeat to Bedford earlier in the season, Jersey currently lie ninth in the league table just four points ahead of the Blues, but after back to back Cup wins over London Scottish they will arrive in confident spirits hoping to turn their Championship fortunes around.

Therefore, we need the town to get out of the house on December 26th and enjoy rugby and beers with family and friends as the Blues 16th man roars louder than ever. Tickets for the match are available online with a £4 discount. Click here to buy tickets now.

Both the Goldington Road and Hospital gate entrances will be open as usual, along with the Bushmead gate for ticket only admission (no cash sales), whilst collections and purchases will be at the usual ticket office window and turnstiles.

As well as the on-field entertainment, there is plenty more in store off the pitch for this festive themed fixture. Pick up a match programme on entry to the ground and head up to the Eagle Bar to sample the Christmas Guest Ale; St Austell Brewery’s Jolly Holly Ale or a pint of Bedford’s favourite Eagle IPA.

Whilst hospitality is now sold out, why not book in to Nos’s Nosh for pre-match grub or head to one of the bars around the ground, including two additional bar outlets near the Former Players and Scrum Bar.

As the teams run out, please give both sets of players and this week’s SSG Guard of Honour from the Junior Blues along with the Bedford Bear, a loud cheer to warm us all up on a cold afternoon.

The Club hope supporters will once again stick around after the match to join the Boxing Day celebrations as musician Mark Calder again plays live music into the evening to continue the party atmosphere in the Blues Marquee.

For those wanting to review the match and enjoy expert analysis, catch the Man of the Match Presentation after the 80 minutes in the marquee or head up to the Eagle Bar for live reaction from players and coaches in the Michael R Peters Final Whistle.

It is hoped the whole town will come out to support the Club and that families and friends alike can unite behind the team and show how important this Club is to the community.

If you missed something off your Christmas list, don’t panic, visit the Club Shop before, half-time or after the match to check out the new leisurewear range and grab yourself a late present. Show your Season Ticket for 10% discount.
