ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR SATURDAY'S CLASH

The Blues aim to kick start a busy October this Saturday against newly promoted Richmond at Goldington Road following last weekend’s narrow defeat to Doncaster Knights (KO 3pm).

Whilst some have tipped Richmond for relegation, Mike Rayer’s men will certainly not be underestimating the side from the capital who ran Rotherham very close last time out. The Blues are in a similar position to Richmond having not registered a win so far this season so both sides will be focused on changing that this Saturday.

Also like Bedford, Richmond have improved each game so far this season and we are expecting a humdinger of an encounter at Goldington Road so make sure you arrive early for this crucial fixture in the Blues calendar. A strong 16th man and making the Blues’ home a fortress could be telling.

There is a long history between the clubs with many tight battles over the years, but Richmond certainly have the bragging rights going in to this one having ran out 106-12 winners in 1999 in the final regular Allied Dunbar Premiership One match before the infamous survival play-offs.

The Club have once again got plenty planned off the field to keep you at the ground well into the evening, but for those arriving early pick up a programme and head to the refurbished Eagle Bar for a pint of this week’s guest ale from Black Sheep Brewery; Monty Python’s Holy Grail.

There are still a few spots in the Blues Marquee for just £25 per person (excluding match ticket) for a three course pre-match meal and entertainment with pre-match analysis and predictions with the injured Blues players. To book simply email sophie@bedfordrugby.co.uk today.

As kick off approaches, this week’s SSG Guard of Honour from Hitchin Hedgehogs Under 8s will form the welcome tunnel with the Bedford Bear, let’s give them and the teams a loud cheer.

After the game we’ve again got two choices for you; either head to the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation and enjoy live music with the returning Mark Calder. If you can squeeze in both; pop upstairs to the Eagle Bar straight after the MoM presentation for the third installment of the Michael R Peters Final Whistle. This new initiative with instant match reaction from a player and coach gives supporters a real insight to the match from an expert view,

Match sponsors this week are Young’s London Stout and to help promote another Charles Wells brewed beer; stout will be on offer at £3 per pint post-match in the Eagle Bar and Marquee.
