The Blues Academy play St. Joseph’s College Ipswich at Goldington Road on Wednesday October 9th KO 7.30 pm. The bar is open, all are welcome.
St. Joe’s, who are one of the most successful rugby schools in the South of England, have contributed a number of players to the Blues Academy over the last two seasons including ex-St. Joe’s pupil winger/full back Chris Lord who signed for the Blues 1st XV this summer.
Bedford take the opportunity to try a number of players. Three players recently arrived from Western Australia make their debuts; twin brothers centre Dylan van Dieman and fly half Keano van Dieman, and prop Brad Dunkerley. Bedford Junior Blues flanker Reece Bettell and centre Michael Coutts, and Tonbridge School flanker Joss Morgan, also make their first appearances. The side is captained by ex-Rugby School 1st XV captain Dan Martin from No. 8.
Blues’ Academy Director Denis Ormesher said ... “We are delighted to welcome St. Joe’s to Goldington Road for their first fixture against the Blues. After two tough fixtures against Saints and Tigers in the last ten days we have taken the opportunity pick a young side, and to test some new players.”
