ACADEMY V OXFORD UNIV U21 - MATCH PREVIEW
The Blues Academy face a University U21 XV for the third consecutive week. After losses to Cambridge and Loughborough Universities U21 XVs in the last two weeks, the Blues face the Oxford University U21 XV this week at Goldington Road, Kick Off at 2.00 pm.
With the Blues away at Plymouth on Friday, Bedford supporters have the chance to support the Academy at home - Kick Off is 2.00 pm, the bar is open, all are welcome.
This will be the second game against Oxford this season, with the Blues winning the game at Iffley Road six weeks ago by 24pts - 19. Since then Oxford have beaten the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Middlesex U20s and the RAF U23 XV. The students who are preparing for the Varsity game against Cambridge University at Twickenham in three weeks time, are expected to be better organised, and offer a tougher test, that when the Blues met them early in their term.
Bedford are without a number of players due to injury; prop Connor Adams, 2nd row Brad Scharff, flanker Ryan Brett-Williams, No 8 Dan Martin, and full back Dylan van Dieman all miss the game, whilst fly half Dan Lewis and centre Michael Phillips are not available due to school commitments. 2nd row Ben Patterson returns from injury and Middlesex Under 18 flanker Haydn Bevis-Knowles makes his Blues debut on the bench. Flanker Kennett O'Neil captains the side.
