Academy take on L'boro Students

The Blues Academy welcome Loughborough University U21 XV to Goldington Road on Saturday – KO 2.00 pm.

Making their debuts for the Blues Academy in the starting lineup are ex-Millfield School prop, Henry Peck, Portugal U18 international centre Jose Fernandes and ex-St.Joseph’s College Ipswich wing, Ross Taylor.  Hoping to make their debuts off the bench are ex-Junior Blue 2nd row, Kyron Houston, Wotton School flanker, Tim Herbert, and ex-Llandovery College fly half, Ben Phillips.  The side will be captained by prop Charley Robinson.

Blues Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said: “With the RAF game being cancelled two weeks ago this is a much needed game.  The lads are a bit “rusty” but have trained well this week, and are raring to go.  It took us until after half time against Moseley in our last game, to pull together some decent phases.  Our squad are all 17 or 18 years old, so Loughborough will present a real tough physical challenge.  We will need to be on our top form for the whole game to compete with them.”

The game against Loughborough University is at Goldington Road, at 2.00 pm.  All are welcome, the scrum bar is open and World Cup Rugby is on TV all day;  Samoa v Scotland (14:00), Australia v Wales (16:45) and England v Uruguay (20:00).
