STOP PRESS.  Bedford 15pts. Notttingham 34pts.  Report to follow.

Bedford Academy welcome Nottingham Academy to Bedford on Saturday.  With the Blues at home against Bristol the Academy game is at the Bedford Swifts’ ground with Kick Off at 12.30pm.

Bedford had a narrow win against Nottingham three weeks ago (12pts – 8).  This second game, although still an Under 19 game, has been set up to allow both sides to include a number of younger players.

In the pack, 2nd row Louis Hooker-Johnson (Moulton College) and No. 8 Moses Gunda (Oakham School) make their debuts, and Alfie Clark (Essex U18s) makes his debut at fly half.  The side will be captained by scrumhalf Olly Howard.

Blues Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said: “The game against Nottingham three weeks ago was a tough game with Nottingham being the better side for much of the game.  Our fitness, and composure, in the last 10 minutes allowed us to steal the win in the last seconds.  Although both ourselves, and Nottingham, will be playing a number of younger players this week, we expect another tough game.  This will be ideal to stretch some of our younger guys, and allows us to see how they cope in a pressure game.”

The game against Nottingham is at the Bedford Swifts’ ground at the Athletic Stadium, Barker’s Lane, Bedford, MK41 9SB.  Kick off is 12.30pm, which gives Blues supporters time to watch the Academy game, and then stroll up to Goldington Road to support Blues vs Bristol (Kick Off 3.00 pm).
