The Blues Academy kicked off their pre-season training programme this week.

With over 40 players, 25 of them triallists, the Academy coaching team put them through their paces.

Blues Academy Director, Denis Ormesher said ..."We had over 40 players at training this week, with around another 20 or so due to join us over the next couple of weeks when they return from holiday. We were pleased with the progress the squad from last season have made over the summer, most of them have worked hard and looked sharp.  We have also got some strong new players in on trial, hoping for a place in the Academy squad.   Our fixture list is coming together and this year looks to be the strongest set of fixtures we have had, with games against five of the RFU funded Academies; Saracens, Northampton Saints, Leicester Tigers, Wasps and Leeds Carnegie plus the U21 sides of the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Loughborough and the RAF U23 XV.

The Blues Academy games start with a home game on Saturday August 16th when they entertain the Irish province, Leinster.
