ACADEMY FACE TIGERS

The Blues Academy welcome Leicester Tigers Academy to Goldington Road on Sunday, KO 12 noon.

With a spate of injuries to cope with the Blues make five changes to the starting lineup and give debuts to four new players on the bench.

In the pack Alex Burman returns in the second row and Oli Robinson at flanker.  In the back line Ryan Hutler makes his first start on the wing, Cameron Clarke returns at centre and Max Titchener at full back.  On the bench Bedford give debuts to second row Ethan Hughes, St, Joseph’s College, Ipswich, scrum half Archie Unstead, Moulton College and Essex U18s, fly half Connor Scott, Princethorpe College and Warwickshire U18s,  and winger Ollie Brown, St. Albans School and Hertfordshire.   The side is captained by fly half Chris Easton.

The game kicks off at 12 noon at Goldington Road.

Bedford Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said … “We are delighted to be playing Leicester Tigers again.  Over the years they have probably been the best U19 side in the country.  We lost to them (57pts – 0) in September and in the last month they have beaten Wales U18s (14pts -0) and England Counties U18s (33pts – 5).  They will present us with one of our toughest games of the season.”
“We are missing a number of players due to injury so this gives us a great chance to see how some of our youngsters cope with the step up.  The squad has trained well over the last two weeks and they are all looking forward to the challenge.”

Bedford:  Josh Waller, Ben Wilkinson,  Hayden King, Josh Fadden, Alex Burman, Jacob Moody, Ollie Robinson, Zach Scott-Grey; Dylan Leney, Chris Easton (capt); Luke Hibberd , Nico Defeo, Cameron Clarke, Ryan Hutler; Max Titchener:  Replacements: Garth Spencer, Liam Appleton, Charley Robinson, Ethan Hughes, Archie Unstead, Connor Scott, Will Foster, Ollie Brown:
