The Blues Academy welcome the Royal Navy U23 XV to Goldington Road on Wednesday night – KO 7.30 pm.

With a list of injuries and availability issues the Blues make 11 changes (two of them positional) to the starting line that played Wasps last week.

In the pack, Jack Culverhouse starts at prop, Charley Harvey returns from, concussion at second row, flanker Jacob North makes his first start, after a few appearances off the bench, and flanker Harry Agnew makes his first appearance of the season following injury.  In the back line Olly Howard starts at scrum half, Harry Hutchins moves to fly half, Scott Lyle makes his first appearance of the season after a spell in New Zealand, ex-Academy players Kieran Duffin and Stuart Livesey join up in the centre, Ed Goodman from Ampthill makes his first appearance, and Liam Shields moves to full back.

Blues Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said: “The Royal Navy are in the final stages of their preparations for the Inter-Services Championship, when they will play the RAF and the Army later this month.  This is the first time the Blues Academy have played the Royal Navy and we are delighted to welcome them to Goldington Road.  The timing of the game is opportune.  This weekend is the Blues annual Poppy Appeal date prior to Remembrance Day.  Entry to the Blues game against Yorkshire Carnegie on Saturday is free to any serving member of the armed forces, or the emergency services.”

“An U23 side will present a real tough physical challenge.  We will need to be on our top form for the whole game to compete with them.”

The game against the Royal Navy U23 XV is at Goldington Road, with KO at 7.30 pm.  All are welcome, the scrum bar is open.
