The Blues Academy take on another older students side this week when they travel to play Loughborough University on Saturday.  With the Blues original opponents, Loughborough Univ Freshers, now playing England Counties U18s in a training game, the Blues will face an older students side with players mainly from the 2nd and 3rd year, who will be 2 – 3 years older than the Blues squad.

Bedford make three changes to the starting lineup that beat Moseley two weeks ago.  In the pack Hayden King returns at tight head, with Charley Robinson moving to the bench, and Zach Scott-Grey returns at No.8.  In the back line Dylan Leney starts at scrum half, with Olly Venni moving to the bench.

On the bench Michael Bond, Hertfordshire U18 and Oaklands College, makes his debut, and centre Cameron Clarke returns from injury.  The side is captained by fly half Chris Easton.

The game kicks off at 12.30 pm at the Holywell pitches at Loughborough University.

Bedford Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said … “We had a very narrow win (8pts – 5) against Loughborough in appalling conditions in November.  Loughborough have some of the top young players in the country, and the older side we will face this weekend will give us a really tough physical challenge.”

Bedford:  Josh Waller, Ben Wilkinson,  Hayden King, Josh Fadden, Sam Copeland, Callum Strachan, Ollie Robinson, Zach Scott-Grey; Dylan Leney, Chris Easton (capt); Luke Hibberd, Cameron Gregory-Ring, Nico Defeo, Jack Stapley;  Ben Meaden:  Replacements: Michael Bond, Liam Appleton, Charley Robinson, Olly Venni, Roddy Giles, Will Foster, Cameron Clarke.
