Bedford Blues were within seconds of drawing a third Greene King IPA Championship game when their very own Captain America came to the rescue to convert a penalty with the final kick of the game.

The Blues had cruised into a 15-0 half-time lead against Rotherham Titans at Clifton Lane thanks to tries from Rich Lane and Elliot Clements-Hill with the aforementioned Will Hooley converting one and kicking a penalty. But the home side, who are languishing at the foot of the Championship table, fought back valiantly thanks to a converted Rhodri Davies try, a Caolan Ryan penalty and a Jake Henry score to level the game with the clock ticking away.

On the back of another successful Blues Community Holiday Rugby Camp, we are delighted to announce the full list of Community sponsors supporting our delivery this year in schools, clubs and groups across Bedfordshire and beyond.

A few of the club’s community sponsors visited the club last week to gain some first-hand experience of what the Community department have been up to and launch the new community kit in collaboration with clothing partner Zoo Sports.

Bedford Blues have named their squad to make the journey to Clifton Lane on Saturday afternoon to take on Rotherham Titans in what is sure to be an enthralling encounter (Kick Off 2pm).

The Blues head into the match off the back of a narrow four point defeat to Jersey Reds last weekend and know that they will need to up their game against a Rotherham side who are fighting tooth and nail to remain in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Bedford Blues were guilty of not taking their opportunities as they lost 29-33 to Jersey Reds under the Friday Night Lights of Goldington Road.

It was a frustrating evening for the Blues although they did pick up two bonus points thanks to a brace of tries from Dean Adamson and one apiece for Elliot Clements-Hill and Jordan Burns. But too many chances went begging while Jersey finished off their opportunities to take the spoils in a nine try encounter.

Bedford Blues have named their 22-man squad to face Jersey Reds under the Friday Night Lights at Goldington Road in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Bedford's last outing in the league was against Bristol a fortnight ago. Despite a superb display, Mike Rayer's men were defeated 18-13 at a packed Ashton Gate and in front of the Sky cameras.

Games against Jersey are always exciting affairs and few will have forgotten the 39-37 Boxing Day victory in 2016 when the Blues came from behind to win deep in stoppage time thanks to a converted George Perkins try.

Friday night lights return to Goldington Road this Friday 9th February with an added Beer Festival in the Blues Marquee as Mike Rayer’s men prepare to face Jersey Reds (Kick Off 7:45pm).

Following narrow defeat against Bristol at Ashton Gate last time out, the Blues will be hoping to bounce straight back against the Islanders, who haven’t lost in the Championship since November but still lie two places and seven points behind Bedford.
