Can you help get Goldington Road game ready? The supporter ground works program continues this Saturday as the Blues volunteer work force help the club with a wide range of smaller maintenance jobs throughout the summer mornings.

The big clear up aids the off-field environment of our club ahead of another exciting Championship season – and we need your help!

Bedford Blues Community team are delighted to announce our first ever roadshow camps in Northamptonshire and Essex where the delivery team will be teaching youngsters from further afield to ‘learn to play the Blues way’.

The first one-day camp on the road will be at new club partners May & Baker RUFC in Dagenham on Wednesday 2nd August from 9am – 3pm. The second three-day camp will take place just up the A428 at the famous Northampton Old Scouts rugby club starting on Tuesday 15th August at 9am – 3pm.

Bedford Blues returned to pre-season training on Monday 12 June with Strength and Conditioning Coach Sean Vine putting the lads through the paces in the gym while Mike Rayer, Martin Hynes and Paul Larkin, joined by new faces Alex Rae and Lee Dickson, cracked on with preparations for the coming campaign. We sat down with Director of Rugby Mike Rayer to learn more about what has been going on so far and what lays ahead for the lads.

Tickets and hospitality are now on sale for Bedford Blues pre-season fixtures against European Champions Saracens and high-flying National One side Plymouth Albion.

On Saturday 12th August, Kieran Hallet's Albion will be making the trip from Devon to Goldington Road for the season opener (KO 3pm) as fans get the first chance to meet the new players including our star signings after the match.

The fixtures for the 2017/18 British & Irish Cup have been announced with Bedford Blues pooled alongside Ospreys, Nottingham and reigning champions Munster A.

It will certainly be a tough challenge for the Blues who open their campaign against fellow Championship side Nottingham away from home on the weekend of 13th to 15th October. Bedford will then welcome Ospreys to Goldington Road at 3pm on Saturday 21st for the annual Ladies’ Day game.

The club has learnt with great sadness that our oldest Former Player, at 99-years-old, Ron ‘RAB’ Rogers has sadly passed away this week.

Ron made 29 appearances for the 1st XV between 1939-48, whilst also representing the East Midlands. His early career at Goldington Road was interrupted by the Second World War, but he did make appearances for the Blues when he was on leave, most memorably in the fly-half jersey.

Ron was born in 1917 in a flat above Gascoigne Lawnmowers in Tavistock Street. He went to Ampthill Road School and from there gained a scholarship to Bedford School.

Bedford Blues are delighted to confirm that Michael Le Bourgeois has been named captain at Goldington Road for a second season.

Booj, as he is known to fans and teammates alike, moved from Jersey to Bedford in 2013 and quickly established himself as one of the leading players both on and off the Goldington Road pitch.

Speaking exclusively to Bedfordshire on Sunday, Le Bourgeois said: "I'm very proud, as I was last year having been given the honour of leading the boys out. I'm over the moon and can't wait to get started. We're back in preseason, we've had a few weeks of it and can't wait for the season to get underway.
